Description

Govan 18 ([Stirling Maxwell's numbering](https://archive.org/details/sculpturedstone00maxwgoog/page/n36/mode/2up); ECMS 7) is one of 31 early medieval recumbent cross-slabs originally recorded at Govan Old in 1899, and one of the few that was designed with angle-knobs. These monuments would have originally laid flat in the churchyard, likely marking the grave of a significant early medieval individual. This was reused for the burial of a William Bogle between the 17th-19th centuries; [Tim Clarkson has written more on this in his blog](https://earlymedievalgovan.wordpress.com/2016/08/11/the-bogle-stone-at-govan/).
