"The Enoch Pratt Free Library is one of the oldest free public library systems in the United States...On January 21, 1882, Baltimore businessman Enoch Pratt offered a gift to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore: a Central library, four branch libraries, and an endowment of $1,058,333.00. Built in 1916, Branch No. 18 is located in the Clifton community. While normally open, the library is currently closed for building maintenance.
