Description
Trophy at the main entrance to Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt. The ornament on a high pedestal consists of a trunk with armour and helmet, seven lance flags, a cannon with ammunition and musical instruments.
Trophies as ornaments on buildings go back to ancient victory monuments and were used extensively in the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
