La diversidad en las lenguas: los numerales

El presente trabajo académico pretende ser un breve manual introductorio dirigido especialmente a estudiantes universitarios de Lingüística, pero también a cualquier persona interesada en el tema. Se centra en el análisis de los sistemas numerales en las lenguas del mundo desde la perspectiva de la tipología lingüística. Se analiza la importancia de los numerales desde el punto de vista psicológico, social, cultural y lingüístico. Igualmente, se tratan los distintos tipos de sistemas numerales, sus constituyentes morfológicos, las operaciones aritméticas empleadas en su formación, y cada uno de los distintos tipos de numerales (cardinales, ordinales, multiplicativos, fraccionarios, distributivos, etc.).

This academic work is intended to be a brief introductory manual aimed especially at university students of Linguistics, but also at anyone interested in the subject. It focuses on the analysis of numeral systems in the world's languages from the perspective of linguistic typology. The importance of numerals is analyzed from a psychological, social, cultural and linguistic point of view. Likewise, the different types of numeral systems, their morphological constituents, the arithmetic operations used in their formation, and each of the different types of numerals (cardinal, ordinal, multiplicative, fractional, distributive, etc.) are discussed.
