Citizen Science: Collections, Connections & Collaborations

My keynote presentation for the Australian Citizen Science Association Conference 21 - 23 November 2023 delivered on Wednesday 22nd November 2023. This presentation explains my citizen science journey including how I started by contributing to the Smithsonian Transcription Center, how I progressed to writing Wikipedia articles and how this led to other institutions increasing the impact of my work. I explain about my engagement with the wider biodiversity community and how this has led me to co-author scientific papers, to help create biodiversity data standards and to be invited on to advisory boards for various institutions. I conclude by highlighting some of the projects I am currently working on.
