Ecology is the field of scientific study of the distribution of organisms and the interactions between organisms and their natural environment. It is used to predict the life of organisms that extend from the small being to the universe. Since time immemorial, man has lived with a profound knowledge of ecology.For the survival of every human being in society, it is essential to have a clear knowledge of the power of nature and the ecology of life and suitable conditions surrounding him, such as plants, animals, birds, and other living and non-living organisms. The novel "Veerayuga Naayagan Velpari" written by writer S. Venkatesan, captures a wide variety of messages related to the natural and cultural environment that is in tune with the lives of the ancient Tamil people. "Velpari" is the story of a brave Duke in Tamil Nadu. His prowess is unmatchable to the triumvirs of Tamil Nadu. He is one of the seven Philanthropists of Tamil Nadu in the Sangam times. He ruled a stretch of hillocks called Parambu Malai in Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. It is a natural environment that he protected. S. Venkatesan has portrayed many such records from the literary evidence in his novel. Hence, this paper examines the novel from an ecological point of view to understand the relationship between the Sangam Tamil People and nature.
