References
- Having conducted fieldwork in Guatemala for the past nine years, The Dynastine Scarab Beetles of Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize, the third in a series of monumental works, is greatly appreciated. The first book covered the Dynastinae of Costa Rica and Panama (Ratcliffe 2003), while the second treated Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador (Ratcliffe and Cave 2006). This volume is the largest of the books with 666 pages and treats 199 taxa, many of which are among the largest and showiest beetles found in the Americas. More than just a traditional monographic or survey work-it is also a complete look at the history of scarab collecting and collectors as well as biogeographic aspects of the countries. As with the first two volumes, this fine work meets the highest of publication standards.
