Open Science NL - Work programme 2024-2025
Description
In its first work programme, Open Science NL announces funding for instruments ranging from open science infrastructure to a national training platform for data stewards, and from investments in sustainable open research software to Citizen Science Hubs. The first instruments are expected to be announced in early 2024.
On 17 November, the Open Science NL Steering Board adopted the 2024-2025 work programme. This programme outlines the funding programmes that will be developed in the next two years. An annual budget of 20 million euros is available for this purpose. This budget runs until 2031; several two-year work programmes will therefore follow after 2025.
The programme is divided into five priority areas:
o Capacity building for Open Science,
o Open Science infrastructure,
o Robust research processes,
o Evidence base for Open Science,
o Empowering Open Science communities.
Each priority area contains one or more funding instruments that facilitate the acceleration of the transition to open science. The selection of instruments was partly determined by the NPOS2030 Ambition Document and Rolling Agenda. This document, which outlines the joint ambitions of the Dutch institutions in the field of open science, was produced by NPOS, the predecessor of Open Science NL,.
This first work programme prioritises projects for which there is an immediate need and which are ready to be implemented in the field. The goal is that initial funding by Open Science NL will eventually pave the way for sustainable initiatives.
The Open Science NL team is actively working on formulating calls and other funding instruments. The first calls for proposal are expected to be published in early 2024. Eligibility for funding varies depending on the instrument.
