ROMS + CICE + Ecodynamo software release V1.0 used in FACE-IT project
Creators
Description
Included are three zip files with three software packages: Ecodynamo, the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS, https://www.myroms.org/, last access: 6 October 2023) and the Los Alamos Sea Ice Model (CICE, https://www.osti.gov/biblio/1364126, last access: 6 October 2023).
The creator of this DOI authored only a part of the software, namely Ecodynamo and part of the ROMS biogeochemical code associated with files ecodynamo.*, that interface with the Ecodynamo software itself.
Within the folder: ecodynamo-EcodynamoV1.0.zip\ecodynamo-EcodynamoV1.0\src\ there are several directories with different objects written in C++ and a make file to produce the object libraries that are stored in: ecodynamo-EcodynamoV1.0.zip\ecodynamo-EcodynamoV1.0\ecolib\
The directory metroms-ROMS_biogeochemistryV1.0.zip\metroms-ROMS_biogeochemistryV1.0\apps\
contains examples of build scripts that should be adapted depending on the computer environment: one for the Model Coupling Toolkit (MCT, https://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mct/, last access: 6 October 2023), another for CICE and another for ROMS. The last two depend on compilation files located at: C:\Users\pedro\Downloads\CICE-CICE_Coupled_AppsV1.0.zip\CICE-CICE_Coupled_AppsV1.0\zbgccolpkg\compileice* and metroms-ROMS_biogeochemistryV1.0.zip\metroms-ROMS_biogeochemistryV1.0\apps\common\modified_src\roms-3.6\Linux-*
An example of a compilation/build sequence could be:
./build_mct.sh
. /build_cice_colpkg_S800A4_new.sh S800 18 16
. /build_roms_with_cice_cpkg_new.sh S800 –j 4
Building of CICE requires indicating the number of tiles to use if multiprocessing is desirable. This is not necessary in the case of ROMS, where tiling is defined at runtime.
Input files *.in are also added separately above and needed when running the coupled system.
Abstract
This software release is being used to implement coupled physical biogeochemical models of the ocean the sea ice. It contains three different packages and it requires also the MCT coupler to link ROMS and CICE. The pdf file above contains more details about how the coupled system was set-up, with emphasis on the linkages with biogeochemical processes.
