Description

Subfamily Cholodinae subfam. nov.

Diagnosis

Janassid petalodonts with relatively labiolingually thick median cusps with pointed apexes, lingual cristae robust and crest-like, basolabial tooth base orientation is longitudinally directed.

Type genus

Cholodus St. John and Worthern 1875.

Included Genera

Cypripediodens Duffin and Ward 2017; Cavusodus Itano 2023.

Distribution

Late Mississippian (Serpukhovian) to Late Pennsylvanian (Kasimovian-Gzhelian) of North America and United Kingdom.
