Analysis of Strategy Preference of Teachers for Imparting Peace Education among Adolescents

Abstract:

Peace education intends to impart individuals the information, attitudes, values, and behavioral competencies needed to resolve conflicts without violence and to build and maintain mutually beneficial, harmonious relationships. Education acts as a tool to impart peace by changing the erroneous perception and thinking of people. There exist many strategies to promote Peace education. These are mainly based on ideologies, practical experience, and good intentions. By adopting suitable strategies, teachers can develop peaceful minds of youth through peace education. Adolescence is one of the enthralling and perhaps the most complex stage of life. The narrative of social influence during adolescence often revolves around risky and maladaptive behaviour. The present study analyzed the strategy preference of teachers for imparting peace education among adolescents. The findings revealed that majority of the teachers (76%) preferred 'Skit' as an effective strategy for imparting Peace education among adolescents
