Description
This adaptation draws inspiration from "The Game of Open Access" originally created in 2017 by Kate McGuinn and Mik Spikin and made available under the CC BY-NC 3.0 license. We owe our gratitude to the original concept and design, which were meticulously crafted by Computing & Library Services (CLS) at the University of Huddersfield in 2017. You can explore the original content at https://hud.libguides.com/openaccess/GameOfOpenAccess.
In our commitment to align this adaptation with the specific requirements of the Danish context and to adhere to the local Open Access policies and practices at Aarhus University, we have undertaken a comprehensive redesign. This redesign involves the introduction of entirely new questions, adjustments to various aspects of the game board, and refinements to the game rules.
The game is included in our PhD course as a pleasant addition to a content-rich two-day course covering key concepts in academic research, data management, digital methods, and publishing strategies. It serves as a tool for assessing whether we have achieved our learning objectives in this area.
The poster (in danish) describes the process of adapting the game and the context in which it is used. It was presented in March 2023 and won best poster.
