Type locality: Off Mindanao, Philippines.

Synonyms: Leptocotis mindanaonis Stebbing, 1888; Leptocotis similis Spandl, 1927.

Distribution. World: Off Mindanao, Philippines (Stebbing 1888), Gulf of Mexico (Felder & Camp 2009), India (Pillai 1965a).

India: Western India Ecoregion: Goa (Pillai 1965a); South India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Pillai 1965a); Maldives Ecoregion: Lakshadweep (Pillai 1965a).
