31. Metaphoxus simplex (Spence Bate, 1857)

Type locality: Plymouth Sound, England.

Synonyms: Metaphoxus pectinatus (Walker, 1896); Metaphoxus typicus Bonnier, 1896; Phoxocephalus pectinatus Walker, 1896; Phoxos simplex (Spence Bate, 1857); Phoxus kroyerii Spence Bate, 1857.

Distribution. World: England (Spence Bate 1857), France (Dauvin 1999), North Atlantic Ocean (Bellan-Santini & Costello 2001), Bay of Biscay (Bachelet et al. 2003), Greece (Koukouras 2010), Ireland (Guiry & Guiry 2011), India (Thilagavathi et al. 2013).

India: South India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Thilagavathi et al. 2013 as Metaphoxus pectinatus (Walker, 1896)); Eastern India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Thilagavathi et al. 2013 as Metaphoxus pectinatus (Walker, 1896)).

Remarks: Report from India requires confirmation.
