Type locality: Makapu Island, South Atlantic Ocean.

Synonyms: Hyale affinis Chevreux, 1907.

Distribution. World: Makapu Island (Chevreux 1907), India (Sivaprakasam 1969a).

India: Eastern India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Sivaprakasam 1969a as Hyale affinis Chevreux, 1907; Venkataraman 2007 as Hyale affinis Chevreux, 1907); Northern Bay of Bengal Ecoregion: Bay of Bengal (Surya Rao 1972 as Hyale affinis Chevreux, 1907).
