Type locality: Atlantic Ocean.

Synonyms: Ampithoe pelagica H. Milne Edwards, 1830; Sunamphitoe brusinellae Heller, 1867; Sunamphitoe conformata Spence Bate, 1857; Sunamphitoe grandimana Boeck, 1861; Sunamphitoe hamulus Spence Bate, 1857.

Distribution. World: Atlantic Ocean (Milne Edwards 1830), Gulf of Mexico (Felder & Camp 2009), Caribbean Sea (Miloslavich et al. 2010), Greece (Koukouras 2010), North Atlantic Ocean (Borges et al. 2010), Ireland (Guiry & Guiry 2011), India (Srinivas et al. 2020).

India: Western India Ecoregion: Gujarat (Srinivas et al. 2020).
