Type locality: Northumberland, UK.

Synonyms: Cerapus crassicornis (Spence Bate, 1857); Siphonoecetes crassicornis Spence Bate, 1857.

Distribution. World: UK (Spence Bate 1857), North Atlantic Ocean (Bellan-Santini & Costello 2001), India (Geetha & Nandan 2014).

India: South India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Thilagavathi et al. 2013 as Cerapus crassicornis (Spence Bate, 1857)); Eastern India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Thilagavathi et al. 2013 as Cerapus crassicornis (Spence Bate, 1857)).

Remarks: Report from India requires confirmation.
