Description

Among ceramic materials, earthenware is a subset present in different contexts (urban, rural, coastal or shipwreck sites, among others), and is outlined as relevant for addressing many topics framed in historical archaeology. Based on a review of specialized literature available in Argentina and Chile, this work proposes to explore the theoretical and methodological approaches to studying earthenware in Southern South America. A total of 36 publications were examined, from which we draw considerations about shared features and particularities regarding trade, use, and disposal of earthenware objects in this region.
