Operatori e insegnanti a confronto: far emergere pratiche, riflessioni e saperi intorno al lavoro nelle scuole | A comparison between teachers and educators: thoughts, knowledge and good practices about working in schools

This abstract describes a research experience carried out in collaboration with the “Liberi di Crescere” (LdC) project. The working group, composed by teachers and educators from Sicily, Campania, Liguria and Piedmont, met several times online, between September 2021 and January 2022. The meetings were held by a sociologist (University of Messina) through qualitative and participative techniques. Each meeting consisted of three moments: individual, in sub-groups and in plenary.
The aim was to share the experiences of educators and teachers within the project, in order to start a discussion on common strengths and weaknesses, as well as the possible strategies to solve them.
The main themes emerged were: conflict; the oppression of students within the institutional school context; the theme of power; rules at school; pandemic/post pandemic effects at school.
From the participants reflections we notice a need for
– a new school proposal: more open and concrete;
– a comparison between teachers and educators on working methods, exchanging good
practices, advices and innovations;
– a comparison between workers with different types of training and experience, to get to a final shared work in which everyone had the opportunity to take part;
– to share common experiences and techniques.
