Framework-free grammatical theory
Description
Framework-free grammatical description/analysis and explanation is argued here to be superior to framework-bound analysis because all languages have different catgeories, and languages should be described in their own terms. Frameworks represent aprioristic assumptions that are likely to lead to a distorted description of a language. I argue against restrictive theoretical frameworks of the generative type, against frameworks of functional approaches such as Functional Grammar and Role and Reference Grammar, and against Basic Linguistic Theory.
