Description
The international learning community present a second example lesson plan to teach sustainability through the disciplinary lenses and perspectives of science and stewardship (religious/worldviews). Initially produced by Kevin Walsh of Westminster school, the learning community of teachers as well as tutors and trainee teachers from Kwame Nkrumah University collaborated to focus on three questions:
- How does this discipline/perspective interpret the question?
- What methods would this discipline/perspective use to investigate the question?
- How would (someone in) this discipline/perspective know they had a good answer?
The lesson plan explores the Big question of Can Nuclear Power save the planet?, initially through a science lens before considering stewardship of the planet: the moral, values and beliefs driven perspectives which may be contingent on religious or worldviews. Expanding to a multidisciplinary conversation, this question will also value responses from other disciplines, e.g. mathematics or geography.
