Matlab and Python software to compute Fourier-wavelet spectra (fourierwavelet v1.1) using longitude-time data for studying global-scale atmospheric waves

Description

A Fourier-wavelet spectrum is similar to a wavelet spectrum. A wavelet spectrum is derived from 1-D data (usually, time series) to show wave activity that is localized in time, while a Fourier-wavelet spectrum is derived from 2-D data (longitude-time data) to identify global-scale waves that are localized in time. A Fourier-wavelet spectrum can be obtained separately for eastward- and westward-propagating waves with different zonal wavenumbers. Matlab and Python software (cfw v1.1) are created that compute Fourier-wavelet spectra for input data that are evenly gridded in time and longitude.
