An introduction to East Greenland's functional structure: An epibenthic community assessment and their associated traits and drivers.

Description

A short presentation was given at the ICYMARE Youth Conference in 2021.

The presentation informs of our work on epibenthic communities in Northeast Greenland and describes biodiversity and functional diversity using species traits and their vulnerability and redundancy. The presentation continues to outline our results that show the different environmental covariates that play a significant role in the presence or absence of species across a high Arctic continental shelf and the influence these covariates have on trait composition. Our results found that traits had a significant role in forming/maintaining biodiversity structure and it is the first study of its kind to describe epibenthos in this way.
