Increasing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) through data archiving across the UK Data Service
Description
The delivery of a fair and supportive working environment for staff is an important part of the UK Data Service. We recognise the value that diversity, equality and inclusion brings and want to recruit, develop, retain and motivate an increasingly diverse workforce.
This poster looks at how the UK Data Service and University of Essex have strategically increased diversity across their respective organisations, in line with the continuum created by Professor Gurnam Singh in the aftermath of the George Floyd murder, July 2020. It also examples some of the key work that is happening to drive inclusivity and accessibility: from staff recruitment and cultural changes, through to data curation, research access, user testing, training, communications and impact.
