Description

The article is devoted to the study of the dynamics of species composition and quantitative development of
macrozoobenthos of the Northern Absheron Gulf of The Caspian Sea, in 2011-2013. Forty-six macrobenthic
species included 9 taxonomic groups were found in the Northern Absheron Gulf. Three of them
(1.michaelseni, A.spinoza, C.marinus) were revealed for the first time in the fauna of the Gulf. The maximum
species diversity was observed in spring and summer seasons (30 - 46 species), and minimum- in autumn
(25-30 species). The average annual biomass was ranged from 95.66-107.92 g/m², and the total number -
1217-1453 ind./m. Maximal development of biomass was observed in summer - 122.88 - 139,14 g/m², and
the minimum- in autumn-71.49-81.23 g/m².
