The role of poetry in the life of an individual and society: a philosophical and a psychological approach

The article presents a philosophical view on the place, nature and the role of poetry in human culture from Plato to M. Heidegger. The main contexts of consideration of poetry in psychology are pointed out: psychology of art and psychotherapy, art therapy. The general starting premise for thinking about poetry is the personal history of the author's appeal to poetic creativity.
