Description
This paper explores the design of a single control system for a battery energy storage system (BESS) that can be used with various Distributed Energy Resources (DER) assets. The main challenge is to ensure smooth operation and transition between grid-connected and standalone modes while efficiently distributing power between the load, battery, and grid. A unified controller scheme is proposed and evaluated through simulations of different case studies. The results show that the proposed control scheme responds well to grid power events and load variations.
