Description

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of institution-based family education programs on secondary school students' school success. Families being fully aware of their duties and responsibilities regarding the child's school success,is only feasible through effective and well-structured family education programs or parent informing seminars. In the process of developing family education programs on this subject, it is extremely important for it to be prepared including activities both in terms of children's school success and developing a healthy personality; and for the families to develop the right attitude and behavior for raising children, to establish effective communication within the family, to know the right discipline methods, to prepare a suitable studying environment for the child, etc.

Quantitative and qualitative data were used together in the study, while the experimental model with pre-test-post-test control group was used in the quantitative part of the study; In the qualitative part, semi-structured interview method was used and in this direction, face-to-face interviews were conducted after the program, with the parents who participated in the family education program.

Family education programs can be carried out in various ways. Among these, institution-based (institution-centered/institution-fundemental) family education programs are more commonly carried out, both because they provide convenience for practitioners in terms of time, space and reaching more people in the implementation of the program, and also because they pave the way for interaction and information exchange between families.
