FuE-Vorhaben "Presswasservergärung Restabfall"
- 1. Universität Rostock. Agrar- und Umweltwissenschaftliche Fakultät
Description
Within the scope of the R&D project "EnBV" FKZ 0327846, Sutco Recyclingtechnik has developed a new process for the fermentation of a liquid phase pressed out of biowaste. This process, which was developed for biowaste, has been adapted over the past 2.5 years to an input material classified differently under waste legislation, the residual waste from the gray garbage can in Germany, at the MBT plant in Erbenschwang. The operation of the plant was scientifically accompanied by the University of Rostock from commissioning until the end of 2021.
The R&D project was to examine how the process works in principle with this input material and what adaptation work is required in the area of plant technology and process management for safe and economical operation. As part of the scientific support, samples have been taken weekly since the start-up of the plant and analyzed with regard to relevant parameters. In addition, various test series were carried out on specific issues.
Based on the operating experience, several plant-technical optimizations, such as the retrofitting of a biofilter, the installation of a belt weigher, and the retrofitting of an additional storage tank, were carried out. Within the scope of the scientific monitoring, it could be proven that it is possible to operate the process without wastewater. It could be stated that a plant can be operated stably with the investigated process. A weak point of the process, however, is the low biogas yield, which is caused by an insufficient discharge of organic freight into the press water.
