Description
Genus Teleophrys Stimpson, 1860
Type species. Teleophrys cristulipes Stimpson, 1860 [Type locality: Cape Saint Lucas]. Remarks. American genus currently consisting of four recent species: Teleophrys cristulipes Stimpson, 1860 (EP), T. ornatus Rathbun, 1901 (WA), T. pococki Rathbun, 1924 (WA), T. ruber (Stimpson, 1871a) [Mithraculus] (WA),
and T. tumidus (Cano, 1889) [Mithraculus] (EP). Teleophrys also includes one fossil species from the early Miocene of Jamaica, T. acornis Portell and Collins, 2004.
