Neotype on Desmodium paniculatum (L.) DC, Newfield, New Jersey, USA, 1879, Ellis s.n. [Neotype chosen by Cummins (1978) from the exsiccati “North American Fungi number 246”]. (?/?, II / III).

BASIONYM— Puccinia hedysari-paniculati Schweinitz, Schrift. Naturf. Ges. Leipzig 1: 74. 1822.
