Description
Background and purpose: In this research, the role of criminological factors affecting theft was studied in the form of social and psychological approaches. Considering that theft is a complex economic and social phenomenon, this phenomenon cannot be explained with a single theory; Therefore, a combined theoretical framework was used to separate independent variables, which includes Hirschi's control theory, Sutherland's differential association, Tard's imitation, Agnew's general pressure, Merton's pressure, ecological and family anomic conditions. Methodology: The method used in this research is a survey and of a comparative causal type, and according to the nature of the causal and comparative method, two statistical populations were used. The thief group included 100 young people aged 18 to 35 living in Yazd Central Penitentiary and the second group included 100 ordinary young people aged 18 to 35 living in Yazd city. The sampling method for both groups is simple cluster and random sampling. The information was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed in spss software. Findings and results: In general, the obtained results show that there is a relationship between family disintegration, addiction, chaotic economic situation, migration and marginalization, literacy level, adherence to religious beliefs and mental health and committing theft among young people in Yazd city.
