Description

Folklore is a growing field in Tamil Nadu. Folk literature consists of four major categories namely folk customs, folk arts, folk science and technology. Folk medicine is a subdivision of folk science. Traditional medicine is a method of medicine that came through human knowledge. Local people use the things that we use daily at home like suku, pepper, tippili, cumin, coriander, turmeric powder, etc. as medicine. Also, some villagers collect the roots, bark, seeds, nuts and green leaves from the forest and fields and prepare it as medicine and give it to the people to cure the disease. Rural people are benefiting from this medicine through their traditional origins, hearsay and circumstance.
