Description
Tomato ringspot nepovirus (TomRSV) can cause significant losses in crops of fruit trees and shrubs and ornamentals. The virus is transmitted by grafting and by mechanical means with the sap of infected plants, which can result in the unknowing spread of the virus within a crop and between crops, especially when there are no visible disease symptoms. The virus is also transmitted with the seeds of certain plant species which increases the risk of transmission to the PRA area. In addition, the risk of spreading TomRSV increases when vectors such as nematodes of the genus Xiphinema are present.
