Over the past 34 years up to 2015 in the world literature many papers on this subject were published. The purpose of this review article is the union of the existing information and to draw the attention of researchers to sources of biologically active substances and drugs. Apigenin, swertiajaponin, gigantozid A were isolated from flowers of Knautia montana. From Knautia arvensis flavonoids, phenolcarbonic acids, tannins, epicatechin were isolated and the presence of 15 amino acids was established.
