Morphology and dynamics of development of subterranean organs of some species and varieties of Iris (Iris L.) under the conditions of the Absheron region

Subterranean organs of Iris species and varieties introduced into Absheron have been compared with those of the native plants. The factors affecting the formation and growth of the root system, bulbs and rhizomes were revealed. The conducted studies showed that under dry subtropical conditions of Absheron, at different stages of ontogenesis, the duration of the developmental phases of the subterranean organs - rhizomes, bulbs and root systems of the species I. alexeenkoi, I. caucasica, I. grossheimii, I. reticulata and varieties ‘Night Ruler’ 'Smiling Angel’, I. 'Sunny Afternoon’, I. 'Thriller’ is within the normal range.
