Renewal and Development of Arts and Crafts of Ukraine in the 1940s: Administrative and Organisational Aspect

  • 1. Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Kyiv, Ukraine

Description

The purpose of the article is to find out the features of the revival and development of Ukrhudozhpromrada in the war and post-war years. Since modern Ukrainian society is influenced by world globalisation processes, with their tendency to level the local peculiarities of everyday life, culture, art, and the issues of revival, traditional national crafts are becoming topical. The research methodology is based on analysing district, oblast, and state administrative and business documents, accumulating and systematising factual material and topological considerations. Analytical and deductive methods were used to summarise the results based on previously obtained archival facts, materials and memories of the participants in the events. Scientific novelty. For the first time in historiography, the development and formation of Ukrkhudozhprom have been investigated. Raised a little-studied topic associated with the activities of this enterprise, which manufactured and sold products of folk art crafts on the territory of Ukraine and abroad. Conclusions. The article has analysed the administrative and organisational measures aimed at restoring destroyed enterprises, their reorganisation. The government was interested in the growth of profits, production capacities and provided financial support for the construction of new buildings, workshops, the manufacture of equipment, contributing to the development of the art industry in Ukraine. It was found that on the basis of artels with the participation of Ukrhudozhprom, production associations and factories were established, providing an opportunity to produce goods of exclusive and mass production. It was revealed that in addition to the goods necessary in everyday life, all Ukrhudozhprom production facilities created purely artistic works that were so artistically high that they were exhibited in museums and demonstrated at all-Union and international exhibitions and fairs. That is: the artel was not only a production enterprise but also a creative, artistic workshop.
