Description

Lagenorhynchus cruciger (Quoy and Gaimard, 1824). Voy. Autour du Monde, sur Uranie et la Physicienne, Paris, Zool., p. 87.

TYPE LOCALITY: Pacific Ocean, 49° S., between Cape Horn and Australia.

DISTRIBUTION: Antarctic and cold temperate waters of the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of South America.

COMMENT: Formerly included australis and obscurus; see Rice, 1977.

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea.
