TYPE LOCALITY: Baltic Sea, Gulf of Bothnia.

DISTRIBUTION: Kurile Isis.; Kamchatka; south to Kiangsu (China)(SW); Alaska to Mexico; Greenland and E. Canada to N.E. U.S.A.; Iceland; Britain and Europe; Seal Lakes, Ungava Pen. (Canada); Iliamna Lake, Alaska (U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Includes kurilensis and richardsi; see Shaughnessy and Fay, 1977, J. Zool. Lond., 182:385-419.

ISIS NUMBER: 5301413002004008001 as P. vitulina. 5301413002004005001 as P. kurilensis.
