Description

Hypsignathus monstrosus H. Allen, 1861. Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, p. 157.

TYPE LOCALITY: Gabon.

DISTRIBUTION: Sierra Leone to W Kenya, south to Zambia and Angola; Bioko. Records from Gambia and Ethiopia are doubtful.

SYNONYMS: labrosus.

COMMENTS: See Langevin and Barclay (1990, Mammalian Species, 357).
