TYPE LOCALITY: Argentina, Buenos Aires, mouth of the Rio de la Plata.
DISTRIBUTION: Temperate waters of South America, from Rio de la Plata (Uruguay) to Tierra del Fuego to Paita (Peru).
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea.
