TYPE LOCALITY: E. North Atlantic ("Oceano Europaeo").
DISTRIBUTION: Temperate and tropical waters of the world; Black Sea.
COMMENT: Includes bairdii; see Van Bree and Purves, 1972, J. Mammal., 53:372-374; Rice, 1977:12. Does not include tropicalis; see Van Bree and Gallagher, 1978, Beaufortia, 28(342):l-8.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea.
