TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Seram, Mt. Manusela.
DISTRIBUTION: Seram (Indonesia).
COMMENT: Formerly included in the monotypic genus, Nesoromys; see Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 169: 137, 168, and comment under Rattus; closely related to, or part of, the R. niobe group on New Guinea.
