TYPE LOCALITY: Greenland and Newfoundland (Canada).
DISTRIBUTION: N. Atlantic and Arctic oceans from E. Canada to the White Sea (U.S. S.R.).
COMMENT: Formerly included in Pagophilus; see Burns and Fay, 1970, J. Zool. Lond., 161:363-394; but also see Corbet, 1978:187.
ISIS NUMBER: 5301413002004003001 as P. groenlandicus (sic).
