Arctocephalus tropicalis

Description

Arctocephalus tropicalis (Gray, 1872). Proc. Zool. Soc. Lend., 1872:659.

TYPE LOCALITY: "Australasian Sea". No exact locality; probably Amsterdam Isl.

DISTRIBUTION: Islands N. of Antarctic Convergence (Tristan, Gough, Marion, Crozet, Amsterdam, Macquarie Isis.).

COMMENT: Considered conspecific with doriferus by Scheffer, 1958, Seals, sealions, and walruses, Stanford Univ. Press, 179 pp.

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Arctocephalus spp.
