Mustela vison Schreber, 1777. Saugethiere, Suppl., 2: 239.

TYPE LOCALITY: Eastern Canada (= Quebec).

DISTRIBUTION: North America from Alaska and Canada through all of U.S. A, except southwestern deserts.

COMMENT: Includes macrodon; see Manville, 1966, Proc. U.S. Nat. Mus., 122:10; but also see Hall, 1981: 1004, who considered macrodon a distinct species. Introduced in Iceland, N. C. Europe, and Siberia; see Corbet, 1978: 170.
