TYPE LOCALITY: Sweden, Vesterbotten.

DISTRIBUTION: The Palearctic (excluding Ireland, the Arabian Pen., and Arctic Isis.); Japan; the Nearctic in Alaska (U.S.A.), Canada, and U.S.A., south to Wyoming and North Carolina.

COMMENT: Includes rixosa; see Corbet, 1978:169; but see also Kurten and Anderson, 1980:150.

ISIS NUMBER: 5301412004007009001 as M. nivalis.

5301412004007012001 as M. rixosa.
