TYPE LOCALITY: U.S.A., Wisconsin, Racine.
DISTRIBUTION: Alaska; Canada (except Keewatin and Newfoundland) to C. Colorado in Rocky Mtns.; E. U.S. A, to N. Georgia.
COMMENT: Formerly included in Microsorex; includes thompsoni; see Diersing, 1980, J. Mammal., 61:76. Reviewed by Long, 1974, Mamm. Species, 33:1-4.
ISIS NUMBER: 5301403007009001001 as Microsorex hoyi. - 5301403007009002001 as Microsorex thompsoni.
