TYPE LOCALITY: Sweden, Lappmark.

DISTRIBUTION: Mountains of Scandinavia and tundra from Lapland to White Sea (U.S. S.R).

COMMENT: Hybridization with sibiricus produced sterile male offspring; see Rausch, 1977, in Sokolov, ed., [Adv. Mod. TherioL], Acad. Sci. U.S. S.R., "Nauka," Moscow, pp. 162- 167. Also see Krivosheev and Rossolimo, 1966, Byull. Mosk. Ova. Ispyt. Prir. Otd. Biol., 71:5- 17, Rausch and Rausch, 1975, Z.
