Allactaga major
Description
Allactaga major (Kerr, 1792). Anim. Kingdom, p. 274.
TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., Kazakhstan, steppes between Caspian Sea and Irtysh River.
DISTRIBUTION: Steppes and deserts from Moscow and Kiev to Ob River (W. Siberia), south to the Caucasus, Kazakhstan, and Tien Shan Mtns.
COMMENT: A. jaculus Pallas, of Soviet authors, is a junior synonym; see Ognev, 1948:94, and Corbet, 1978:156.
